Because each online university has its own policies, students should inquire directly with their university. However, most online universities do have a course enrollment refund policy, where students may receive a course refund if the course is dropped within a certain number of days from the date of registration. After the refund deadline has passed, students can no longer receive course enrollment refunds. It is also important for students to check how course refunds may affect their financial aid and/or loan payments.
If students wish to drop out of an online university program altogether, they should contact the university directly.
